HYBRID POLICY SEMINAR

Integrating Nutrition in Care: Imperative to European Citizens’ Health

Tuesday, October 18th, the Czech Ministry of Health, ENHA, and the Czech Optimal Nutritional Care for All (ONCA) team hosted a hybrid event, broadcast near the Czech Parliament in Prague.

There is a momentum for nutritional care within the concept of the ‘European Health Union’ driven by the COVID pandemic, Europe’s Beating Cancer plan and a new opportunity within the European Care Strategy. At the same time, local implementation is everything, as healthcare happens on the floor. An optimal nutritional status is vital for patients throughout the continuum of care and thus requires an integrated approach. All stakeholders, whether healthcare professionals, patients, or policymakers, should realise: if you are serious about health, you should be serious about nutrition.

During this event, we learned from the Czech Republic, which now holds the EU’s presidency. What are local good practices? And how does the European Union impact a patient’s outcomes and quality of life? Key stakeholders will present their cases and discuss solutions that can be translated to other European countries.
