Malnutrition Awareness Weeks 2024: Supported by the ONCA Campaign
Since 2020, with the support of the Optimal Nutritional Care for All (ONCA) campaign, many European countries have successfully launched their own Malnutrition Awareness Week (MAW) initiatives. In 2024, 16 ONCA countries will participate in this vital campaign to raise awareness and promote better nutritional care.
While each country’s MAW has its own timing, objectives, and programs, they all share a common goal: driving the implementation of optimal nutritional care in line with the ONCA campaign. Each national MAW provides a platform to raise awareness of malnutrition, tackling country-specific challenges while fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, patients, policymakers, and other key stakeholders. The recurring nature of the campaign ensures ongoing attention to malnutrition and encourages sustainable partnerships.
If your country is interested in participating, please reach out to the secretariat for more information.

These workshops enable participants to exchange ideas, challenges, and strategic insights while sharing valuable materials and successful strategies.
Key workshops include:
- Kick-off Workshop (February 14th, 2024): Delegates from 17 ONCA countries began preparations for MAW 2024.
- ONCA Conference Workshop (June 7th, 2024): During the ONCA Conference in Turin, a breakout session titled “MAW Communications Workshop” focused on communication strategies for MAW.
- Follow-up Workshop (September 4th, 2024): This session allowed countries to share updates, discuss challenges, and exchange solutions and materials for their upcoming MAW activities.
