Danish ONCA Team’s Nutrition and Exercise Caravan
As part of Malnutrition Awareness Week 2024, the Danish ONCA Team is proud to share the success of our Nutrition and Exercise Caravan, which has been running from November 8-15. This week, we have engaged with patients across multiple healthcare settings, from waiting rooms and treatment rooms to bed sections, discussing the critical link between nutrition, exercise, and recovery.
From Monday to Thursday, our team has been on the ground, talking to patients and providing valuable insights into how proper nutrition and physical activity can improve treatment outcomes, enhance overall well-being, and support recovery during cancer treatments.
Key Highlights:
- Patient Engagement: Our caravan has reached numerous patients, providing personalized nutrition and exercise guidance in various settings. We’ve had meaningful conversations with patients, offering them tools and information they can use to manage their nutrition during treatment.
- Support from the Nutrition Committee: We are grateful to the Nutrition Committee for approving funding to create high-quality roll-up banners that highlight key nutrition messages, making our information more accessible and visible to patients and staff alike.
- Generous Donations: Thanks to the generosity of our producers of nutrient-dense ice cream and beverages, we have been able to offer patients free samples of healthy, fortified products that can support their nutritional needs. These contributions have made a tangible impact in encouraging patients to consider their nutritional intake during treatment.
A Meaningful Impact
We are already seeing the positive effects of this initiative. The conversations we’ve had with patients and the support we’ve been able to offer through donations and educational materials are helping to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition and exercise during cancer treatment.
As we continue our activities throughout the week, we truly believe that Nutrition Week is making a significant difference in how patients perceive and manage their nutritional health. The Danish ONCA Team is committed to further expanding these efforts, ensuring that nutrition remains a top priority in oncology care.
