Greece’s Malnutrition Awareness Week 2025: Working Together Against Disease-Related Malnutrition

Dates: November 10–14, 2025
National Partners: ONCA Greece, the Hellenic Dietetic Association (HDA), and the Hellenic Society for Medical/Clinical Nutrition & Metabolism (GrESPEN)
Theme: “Working together against disease-related malnutrition”

As part of the European Malnutrition Awareness Week (MAW) 2025, Greece will once again bring together healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patient advocates under the theme “Working together against disease-related malnutrition.”

This nationwide initiative, led by ONCA Greece, the Hellenic Dietetic Association (HDA), and GrESPEN, continues to build momentum for better nutritional care across all settings, from hospitals to community care.

Policy Objectives

Greece’s 2025 campaign focuses on translating recent policy progress into practical, measurable impact.
Building on the country’s adoption of a mandatory nutritional screening law in hospitals, the campaign seeks to ensure full implementation and compliance across all healthcare facilities.

At the same time, ONCA Greece and its partners aim to:

  1. Ensure full adoption and compliance with the newly passed mandatory nutritional screening law in hospitals.

  2. Increase public education and awareness, especially among vulnerable populations such as older adults and people with chronic diseases.

These priorities reflect Greece’s long-term commitment to strengthening both clinical practice and public understanding of disease-related malnutrition.
