Overview
Serbia joins the European Malnutrition Awareness Week 2025 movement to strengthen awareness and action against disease-related malnutrition.
Led by the National Society for Clinical Nutrition in Serbia (NUPENS) in collaboration with the Clinical Center of Serbia, the University of Belgrade, the Clinical Center of Vojvodina, and the Clinical Center of Niš, this year’s campaign places a strong emphasis on education, screening, diagnosis, and clinical nutrition interventions — particularly in gastrointestinal and oncological populations.
Objectives
Serbia’s MAW 2025 campaign aims to:
-
Raise awareness of malnutrition among healthcare providers treating pediatric patients and those with gastrointestinal (GI) diseases.
-
Improve knowledge and practice in nutritional screening and assessment, ensuring adequate therapy and individualized nutritional support for specific conditions, including short bowel syndrome.
-
Enhance understanding of malnutrition in cancer patients, promoting clinical nutrition as a vital component of cancer care and recovery.
Key Activities
Serbia’s Malnutrition Awareness Week will include a wide range of educational and awareness activities aimed at healthcare professionals, students, and the public:
